71-year-old Mission man sentenced for continuous child sex abuse

MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Mission man found guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a child has been sentenced to serve time in prison.

Juan Rangel Salinas, 71, was sentenced to serve 25 years in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice with no parole eligibility.

The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the child allegation involving Salinas and a minor in December 2021.

An investigation revealed Salinas was sexually abusing the child on a continuous basis, according to a release from Hidalgo County District Attorney, Terry Palacios.

Palacios says the child was between 6 to 7 years old.

Salinas was sentenced by Hidalgo County District Court Judge Fernando G. Mancias.
