WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas School of Health Sciences congratulated its first graduating class of registered nurses.
The ceremony took place on Saturday, where students walked across the stage to receive their diplomas following a rigorous 18-month, 40-hour-per-week program.
The students were trained in Valley hospitals such as KNAPP Medical Center in Weslaco, Harlingen Medical Center and Mission Regional Medical Center.
"We're just so thankful for our students and the families and the communities that supported the students for 18 months," said Kyle Hunt, President of Texas School of Health Sciences. "It was a very tough journey but it was worth it and I can't just say enough about the community that came together to support our students."
The school celebrated its historic first graduating class of 26 nurses ready to serve the community's healthcare needs.
The graduates are now eligible to take their licensing exam. If the students pass, they are guaranteed full-time employment at one of the three hospitals where they took the program.
