Two people have been indicted on a charge of murder for two fatal fentanyl overdoses that happened in October 2023.

Both Brady Ann Brown Daniels, 44, and Jeffrey Allen Heintz, 40, were indicted on Sept. 18.

Brown is charged with murder for the Oct. 21, 2023 death of 25-year-old Los Fresnos resident Jaqueline Barosio.

She died in the Cameron County Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center.

“The female subject was found unconscious on a single cell. Inmate did not display any markings or bruising on her body,” a Texas Attorney General custodial death report stated.

She had been booked on June 1, 2021 on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, theft of property and burglary of a vehicle.

Heintz, meanwhile, is charged with murder for the Oct. 10, 2023 death of 36-year-old Harlingen resident Travis Burns.

It’s not immediately clear whether the fatal overdoses are related.

Brown has since made bail and is not listed in Cameron County jail records while Heintz is being held on $150,000 in bonds.

Both were scheduled to be arraigned on the indictments Monday. However, both filed waivers of arraignment and entered not guilty pleas, court records indicate.
