Man facing 5 counts of mail theft in McAllen

McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An Austin man was arrested on multiple counts of mail theft, records show.

Miguel Angel Frayre was arrested on five counts of theft of mail, according to Hidalgo County Jail records.

At 1 p.m. on April 19, detectives were called for a theft of mail on the 2200 block of W. Robin in McAllen. Detectives spoke with a woman who said she had received a notification from Amazon that a package had been placed at her front door by a delivery driver less than two hours before, a probable cause affidavit stated.

The woman added that there was a photo that showed the package was placed directly against her front door.

She said she went to the door an hour later and noticed the package was missed. She checked her surveillance cameras, and then noticed a man wearing a black cap and black shirt with "Edinburg" on the back had gone to the door and took the package, the document stated.

While at the scene, the detective learned that officers conducted a traffic stop on the suspect, identified as Frayre, and he was found to be in possession with the items that were reported stolen.

Frayre was booked into the Hidalgo County Jail and his bond was set at $50,000.
