LOS FRESNOS, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cameron County deputies responded to a Los Fresnos home on Monday regarding an assault that occurred on Friday, according to the sheriff's news release.
Around 10:30 p.m. deputies made contact with a 78-year-old man who reported he was assaulted on April 5 at his residence.
The man told deputies he was assaulted by Luis Alonzo Torres Mancilla, 40, after he refused to sell Mancilla some livestock.
The man reported he was struck in the head multiple times and believed he lost consciousness. He also told the deputies he later found out he was missing money after the assault.
Deputies examined the man and determined he had injuries consistent with the assault around his face, according to the news release.
Deputies conducted a follow-up investigation with Mancilla who confessed to the assault.
Mancilla was transported to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center pending arraignment. He is charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.
