HARLINGEN, TEXAS – The Regional Hispanic Contractors Association, in association with the Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will host the 2025 Luna Awards Luncheon–Rio Grande Valley Region at Harlingen Convention Center on Aug. 17.
The group is currently accepting nominations.
The event honors the outstanding achievements of women, women-owned businesses and advocates in the architecture, engineering and construction industries.
To preview the awards, the Rio Grande Guardian interviewed Cynthia Sakulenzki, president and CEO of the RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Alize Dixon, a rising star in the architecture, engineering and construction industries. Here is the interview:

This year’s awards will recognize excellence in categories such as A/E/C Firm of the Year, Service Firm of the Year, Rising Star A/E/C Firm of the Year, Outstanding Administrative Professional, Outstanding Professional, A/E/C Woman of the Year, Business Advocate of the Year and the distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award.
Winners are selected using Award Force, a secure cloud-based judging platform that ensures fairness and integrity throughout the evaluation process. Final results remain sealed until the live reveal at the awards luncheon.
Sakulenzki, the RGVHCC president and CEO, said her group is proud to be working alongside RHCA to highlight the achievements of women in architecture, engineering and construction. She said RHCA, one of the largest Hispanic contractor associations in the country, is committed to advancing the success of contractors through business development, safety education and industry advocacy. She said the organization continues to support and empower women in A/E/C fields across Texas.
“The Luna Awards represent more than just recognition — they amplify the stories of women who are breaking barriers and leading innovation in industries where representation is needed most,” Sakulenzki said.
