Woman arrested in connection to child’s death at daycare

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A woman was arrested in connection with the death of a 4-year-old found inside a daycare van, the Brownsville Police Department announced.

Karen Silva, 36, is charged with injury to a child causing death, a second-degree felony.

At approximately 4:56 p.m. on Friday, June 27, Brownsville PD responded to an emergency call at The Learning Club Pre School, located at the 3900 block of Paredes Line Rd.

At the scene, authorities say a 4-year-old’s body was found inside a daycare van, unresponsive, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Silvia was taken into custody on Friday and was arraigned on Saturday morning. She was issued a $10,000 bond.

This is an ongoing investigation.
