Willacy County Sheriff's Office: Barricaded man arrested by deputies

SEBASTIAN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A wanted man barricaded himself while deputies attempted to arrest him for multiple felony warrants on Sunday, according to the Willacy County Sheriff's Office.

David Rodriguez Jr., 32, was arrested on charges of aggravated robbery, engaging in organized criminal activity, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair.

At approximately 7:44 p.m. on Sunday, the Willacy County Sheriff's Office executed multiple felony warrants against Rodriguez at the 13000 block of W. Main Street, according to a news release from WCSO.

During the encounter, deputies were able to confirm that Rodriguez was inside the residence. When deputies attempted to enter, Rodriguez barricaded himself inside and shouted to deputies that he was armed with a knife, the release stated.

Deputies began to de-escalate the situation so Rodriguez could surrender himself peacefully. After some time of negotiating, deputies were able to safely go inside the residence and take Rodriguez into custody without further incident.
