CAMERON COUNTY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Early voting is underway for the May 3rd local elections.
This week our Inside Valley Politics crew spoke with Cameron County GOP Chair Deborah Bell and Democrat Party Chair Jared Hockema about what races to keep an eye on this election cycle.
As anticipated, much of the political world is watching whether or not Starbase will become a municipality. In February, Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. signed an order allowing for Starbase to move forward in the process to become a city.
“If the election passes, this will be the newest town in Cameron County since Los Indios in 1995.We look forward to seeing the outcome of this election,” Treviño said.
Additionally, the party chairs note there are other hot races this election cycle, such as for Brownsville City Commission seats and a venue in Cameron County.
They also speak on why you should vote this year.
