WESLACO, Texas – Weslaco entrepreneur William Steele has won a statewide award for his tech startup company, Supply Pay.
The award came at the Texas Venture Gala and Forum, which was held recently in Austin. It was hosted by Texas Venture Alliance.
“Our team had the honor of accepting the award as the favored startup in Texas. The experience filled me full of emotion,” Steele said, in a posting on social media.
“None of it would be possible without our incredible team and support network. Our support network is our family members, investors, partners, and you, reading this post right now.”
The Rio Grande Guardian International News Service caught up with Steele in Weslaco soon after he won his statewide award. In a wide-ranging interview, Steele praised Jorge Ayala, the co-founder of Supply Pay. He also recalled his chess match with Richard Branson, on the British business magnate’s private Caribbean island. And he recounted his success at Stanford University.
He also explained his ambitious plans for Supply Pay, which include streamlining and disrupting international supply chains. Here is the podcast:
