WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Weslaco Police Department is investigating an overnight stabbing that left two people injured.
At approximately 2:15 a.m., Weslaco police responded to Applebee's restaurant located at 1829 W. IH-2 regarding a disturbance, according to a press release from Weslaco PD.
At the scene, authorities found a 34-year-old man lying on the ground covered with blood with a stab wound on his left abdomen and neck. To provide aid, the man's friend was applying pressure to the wound while the police arrived, according to the release.
During the investigation, authorities learned that the man stabbed himself due to an argument with a woman, the release stated.
Additionally, the woman was also stabbed by the man. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he is still recovering. Authorities say the woman took herself to the hospital to receive treatment.
The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries,
No arrest has been made. Clothing and the weapon were both recovered.
This is an ongoing investigation.
