WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Weslaco Office of Emergency Management is preparing for the upcoming hurricane season.
Weslaco police chief Antonio Lopez will join the city's emergency management department by hosting a free event to help residents prepare for the season ahead.
The preparation session will help residents with the following:
- Anticipate the risk
- Stock up on essential supplies
- Plan sheltering options
- Plan evacuation routes
The session will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, on the first floor of the Mayor Joe V. Sanchez Public Library.
The Atlantic hurricane season begins Sunday, June 1 through Sunday, Nov. 30.
