Week 5: High School Football Team of the Week

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) —  ValleySportCentral has nominated three local high school football teams to claim the title of Team of the Week.

The nominees for Week 5 Vela High School, Mercedes High School and Rio Hondo High School!

The SaberCats beat McAllen, 10-7, in a District 16-5A Division I contest in which the defenses shone for both teams. Vela improves to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in district play.

The Tigers edged previously unbeaten Sharyland, 34-33, to remain undefeated. Mercedes is now 5-0 on the season.

The Bobcats beat District 16-3A Division I foe Bishop 55-20. Rio Hondo improves to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in district play.
