'We will find you': Weslaco sex offender arrested in Hawaii

WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A sex offender from Weslaco who failed to fulfill the required registration was found and arrested in Maui, Hawaii.

John Paul Massiate was being investigated by the Weslaco Police Department's Sex Offender Division when investigators discovered he had crossed state lines and was traveling between multiple states to evade authorities.

With the help of the Weslaco Police Task Force and the U.S. Marshals, Massiate was arrested Thursday morning in Hawaii.

"The Weslaco Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety of our community and the protection of our children. We will find you, no matter where you try to hide," the department stated online.
