AUSTIN, Texas – Esmy Villarreal, president and CEO of the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce, says Brownsville Day at the Capitol was a great success.
In an exclusive interview with the Rio Grande Guardian from Austin, Villarreal said her chamber had not organized such an event for over a decade.
As well as being recognized by the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate, many high-level meetings were scheduled for a delegation of over 50 Brownsville leaders.
The third day of the trip saw a panel discussion at the offices of the Mexican Consul General in Austin. Panelists included the Mexican Consul in Brownsville, Judith Arrieta Munguia, Texas Association of Business President Glenn Hamer, and Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Chambers Vice President JR Gonzales, Antonio “Tony” Rodriguez, director of cargo services and business development for Brownsville Navigation District, and Brownsville City Commissioner Linda Macias.
Villarreal emceed the discussion. Immediately afterwards, Villarreal gave the Guardian its exclusive interview.
