HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Veterans Resource Fair is set for Sept. 11 in McAllen, which is designed to provide veterans with information about available resources and benefits.

Edward Chapa with Synergy Home Care and Jaime Chapa from a veterans organization highlight the importance of the event, noting that 95% of veterans are unaware of the services and benefits available to them.

"It is very important that we let our veterans know about different resources out there for them. Some of the things we provide are home care at the house for our veterans, which is going to be the home health aide, the homemaker, and then also for widowers, let's say the spouse passed away, and the surviving spouse that was a non veteran? Well, they can actually apply through aid and attendance. So there's a lot of resources and a lot of information out there that we want to let our veterans know, because 95% of the veterans that we speak with don't even know about the services or the benefits that are out there for them," said Edward Chapa.

The fair will feature over 20 vendors at the CenterWell McAllen from 10 a.m. to noon at 1201 E. Business 83.

The event is open to all veterans from the Rio Grande Valley and is expected to be highly beneficial.
