Valley students explore agriculture at Ag Awareness Day

MERCEDES, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show (RGVLS) Rodeo held Ag Awareness Day on Wednesday.

The RGVLS Rodeo says the event enhances the 4th-grade curriculum and promotes agricultural knowledge among young Valley students.

"We're trying to reach as many young people across the Rio Grande Valley as we can, because they need to know and understand the connection between their everyday lives and agriculture," said Luis Saldaña, Executive Director and General Manager of the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Ag Awareness Day runs through Nov. 7 at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Showgrounds.
