Valley residents advised to trim trees ahead of storms

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Residents are getting ready for the potential storm by cutting the trees near their homes.

The potential weather can throw around unkempt trees and other lawn debris and risk breaking a window or more significant damage.

Anthony De Leon runs a family lawn care company in the Rio Grande Valley and says he has been receiving calls back-to-back from customers who are desperate to clear their clutter in time.

“Numerous calls of overgrown grass or trees going over the roofs, and whatnot. It’ll damage your roof, and it can cancel your insurance. So even worse," he said.

De Leon emphasizes checking the trees on your property and consider trimming them if necessary, especially if the trunks are hollow.
