Since 2013, Valley kids have won amazing vacations for their parents and immediate family members. At first, they won dude ranch family vacations in Colorado, Wyoming and Idaho. More recently, kids have won vacations at Holiday Inn Beach Resort South Padre Island and Isla Grand Beach Resort on South Padre Island.

Arts festival winner Daniella Garcia, 8, celebrated her birthday at Holiday Inn Beach Resort.

“It was such a blessing for our family,” said her mother, Jessica Alba Garcia. “Everything was beautiful!”

Arts festival winner, Ally Tay, 10, treated her family to a vacation at Isla Grand Beach Resort.

“We are very thankful for the gift from the competition as it allowed us to get away and spend precious time as a family on the island,” said Ally’s mother, Sue Anne Chew.

Children ages 5-12 may enter the arts festival free of charge. Sponsors such as Dr. Martin Garza (DLC Pediatrics), Austin Frank Boggus Foundation, Melba’s Dance and others have underwritten the cost of producing the arts festival. Schools and families interested in entering can find arts festival guidelines and questions for writing and illustrating at www.KidsTalkAboutGod.org/stx.

Written answers from arts festival entries will be considered for Carey Kinsolving’s weekly Kids Talk About God column that appears in The Monitor, The Brownsville Herald and Valley Morning Star. Artwork will be considered for the “Kids Color Me Bible Gospel of John,” which is available for free viewing and downloading at www.KidsTalkAboutGod.org/kcmbgj.

As part of their vacation prize at South Padre Island, each winner also receives credit to dine at resort restaurants. The online arts festival runs from now until January 31, 2025.
