Valley International Airport closed until further notice due to runway issues

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Valley International Airport announced the airport will remain closed until further notice.

According to the airport administration, following an inspection conducted by the engineering firm, the runaway and surrounding areas are unfit for air travel as the area requires sufficient time to drain and dry.

A follow-up inspection has been scheduled for Monday to reassess the structural integrity of the pavement.

The airport administration states that until the runway is deemed safe for operations, the airport will remain closed until further notice.

Passengers are asked to contact the airlines directly to reschedule their flights.
