Valley fire departments send crews to help with Kerrville flooding

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Fire departments across the Rio Grande Valley have sent firefighters to assist in the rescue and recovery efforts going on in the Texas Hill Country.

According to Nexstar sister station KXAN, as of 9 a.m. Saturday, officials said 27 people have been found dead. Of those, 18 were adults and nine were children. Six adults remain unidentified, as well as one child.

Search and rescue operations will continue. State, federal and local resources are supporting the community during this difficult time.

The Pharr Fire Department has sent one Emergency Medical Service Chief, four firefighters and an ambulance to assist the City of Kerrville and Kerr County, according to the Pharr City Manager.

According to McAllen Fire Chief Juan Gloria, the McAllen Fire Department has sent three firefighters as part of a Texas A&M Task Force 1 water board squad.
