MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) -- Up-and-coming pro boxers will get a chance to showcase their stuff at the Border Wars event scheduled for June 27 at Payne Arena.

Edinburg's Fabian Diaz will be one of the main event fighters.

The undefeated boxer from Edinburg has a 7-0-1 record.

"Every time I fight I bring a good fight," Diaz said a press conference promoting the boxing event. "I always go for the KO. That's what the fans want to see."

Johnny "El Rey" Soto is perhaps the best of all the boxers, with a microphone.

Soto, who has a 4-2 record, is confident of securing his fifth win.

"Everyone loves to come watch Johnny "El Rey" Soto fight, the King of the Valley," Soto said. "Be ready, because this guy is tough. Might not have the best record, but has never been stopped in his career. I'm expecting to be the first. Losing is not an option for me. Not even in back of my mind."

While some guys are confident of securing a win, other boxers on the card are hoping for a win to stay relevant in the local boxing scene.

"This upcoming fight event, I'm coming with everything," said Jonathan Segundo, who has a 2-3-1 record. "I have to win. It's kind of my last shot. I have to prove I'm good enough."
