EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Vaqueros football team put on another dominating performance at Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium, beating Langston University 80-0.
The Vaqueros improved to 3-0 in the season.
On the offense, quarterback Eddie Lee Marburger threw for 206 yards with three touchdown passes before halftime. He connected with sophomore wide receiver Xavion Noland for a 42-yard touchdown to start their opening drive.
The Vaqueros' offense was stalled early in the game, but a fake punt by the special teams shifted the momentum.
Tyler Day took the direct snap 70 yards to the end zone. The defense followed with a pick-six by Elijah Graham, the first interception in program history.
Other key players, such as wide receiver Tony Diaz and running back TJ Dement, found the end zone in the first half. The Vaqueros ended the first half up 52-0 before relieving most of their starters to start the third quarter.
Backup quarterback Aiden Jakobsohn recorded two touchdown passes in the third quarter, with a 7-yard pass to Cameron Glenn and a 15-yard pass to Javien Cuff.
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley will host Texas Wesleyan on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium.
