EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley held a voter registration drive Tuesday in honor of National Voter Registration Day.
The drive took place at the UTRGV Edinburg Student Union and offered every eligible community member the opportunity to register, vote, and have their voice heard.
ValleyCentral spoke to Alejandro Ojeda, a mechanical engineering student at UTRGV, who shared his insight on voting.
"I think it's important that people of youth, or people who are young-minded should be having their say, since we're the ones growing up in this type of environment. We should know that we should get the say as to this is what we want, this is what we want to put in the office," Ojeda said.
"I always think it's right for people to voice their ideas, voice their thoughts, and not be the ones who don't say anything. I want everyone to have, like, at least their say, because every vote counts at the end of the day," Ojeda added.
