UTRGV football season: Tailgating, tickets and parking info

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's first football season has finally arrived, and the UTRGV Athletics Department has announced that all 3,000 student tickets for Saturday's first home game have been claimed.

The Athletics Department stated that at 8 a.m., attending UTRGV students could claim their free tickets. Within the first three minutes, about half of the tickets were claimed, and the remaining ones were claimed by 9 a.m.

Tickets

According to the UTRGV Athletics Department, season tickets for the 2025 football season are sold out, but fans who are interested in attending the 2026 season and beyond can sign up for the waitlist.

“I want to thank our student body for their incredible passion and excitement for being a part of history and attending our first football game,” said Chasse Conque, UTRGV Senior Vice President & Director of Athletics.

Those who are interested in attending the UTRGV Vaqueros' first football season, there will be a limited number of single-game tickets available at 8 a.m. on Friday at UTRGVTicket.com at the following price points:

• Sections 105-107: $50
• Sections 103-104, 108-109, 116-118: $35
• Sections 101-102, 110-111: $25
• Sections 113-115, 119-127: $20
• Standing Room Only: $15

Parking

All Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium and VIP parking passes for the 2025 football season are sold out, according to UTRGV athletics page.

There are five parking lots available for fans to park:

• VAF Stadium and VIP parking lots
• Gray lot
• Tailgate lot
• Edinburg Municipal Park
• The Orange Lot (will open later this season, according to UTRGV)

There will be free ADA Accessible Parking available at the UTRGV ECESS Building.

Tailgate

UTRGV has sectioned out a tailgate lot and tailgate zone for purchase by those who are football season holders, but tickets are not required for fans looking to attend tailgates in the tailgate zones.

A designated student tailgating section will be reserved in the tailgate zone. Additionally, Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium will also feature a designated corporate partner zone to amplify fan experience on game days.

Tailgate base package include a 10x20 tent, a 6-foot table and five folding chairs for $2,500.

Tailgate premium package includes a 20x20 tent, two 6-foot folding tables, and 10 chairs for $5,000.

The tailgate zones will also include existing pavilions with built-in picnic tables which are available for purchase for tailgating.

Pavilions are $1,500, pavilions with water and electricity are $2,000 and larger-sized pavilions are $3,000.

Approximately, 200 tailgating spaces measuring 20x20 will be available for $400 in the tailgate lot, where fans are required to bring their own supplies and properly dispose of all materials.
