NACOGDOCHES, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley fell behind 27-0 heading into halftime as #23 Stephen F. Austin cruised to a 41-17 win.

Heading into Week 10's match up with the Lumberjacks, UTRGV Head Football Coach Travis Bush emphasized not getting off to a slow start.

That slow start ended up being the case. Stephen F. Austin scored on its first three drives, which made it a 17-0 game after the first quarter.

The Lumberjacks proceeded to score on the opening drive of the second quarter to make it 24-0, which was too much for UTRGV's offense to overcome.

The Vaqueros fell to 6-3 (2-3 SLC). All three UTRGV losses have come on the road.

Senior Eddie Lee Marburger went 16-for-24 for 115 yards and one touchdown. Freshman receiver Tony Diaz led the receiver room with 6 receptions for 62 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively, freshman Jaiden Haygood recorded 11 tackles (five solo). Junior TJ Neal finished with nine tackles (six solo) and graduate student Spencer Rich finished with nine tackles (three solo).

UTRGV returns home in Week 11 to host Nicholls on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m.
