UTRGV baseball team advances in Southland Conference Tournament

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The UTRGV baseball team beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 11-8, in its first game of Edinburg Bracket play at the Southland Conference Tournament.

UTRGV returned from a 4-0 deficit to take a 7-4 lead in the fifth inning thanks to a Thomas Williams grand slam.

The Vaqueros’ next game will be at 6 p.m., Friday against Houston Christian.

Bracket play in the tournament consists of a double-elimination format.

With the win over the Islanders, UTRGV is guaranteed at least three games in the tournament.
