USA TODAY: Isla Blanca Park, Boca Chica Beach among Texas' top 10 beaches

CAMERON COUNTY (ValleyCentral) — Isla Blanca Park and Boca Chica Beach have been recognized among the top 10 best beaches in Texas by the 2024 USA TODAY Readers' Choice Awards.

The newspaper says a panel of travel experts and USA TODAY's ‘10Best’ editors curated a list of the finest beach destinations across the Lone Star State. Isla Blanca Park claimed the first-place spot, with Boca Chica Beach securing third place.

"A lot of people now know what we already knew—that Cameron County has the best beaches," said Precinct 1 Commissioner Sofia C. Benavides, who represents South Padre Island. "Isla Blanca Park has been chosen as the best beach in Texas and Boca Chica State Park beach is ranked third. What an honor! We have a lot to be proud of. With the support of the Commissioners’ Court, we have made numerous improvements to Isla Blanca Park and our return on investment is coming back tenfold."

County officials are inviting to visit the Island so tourists themselves can experience what they call "the unparalleled beauty and tranquility of Isla Blanca Park and Boca Chica Beach firsthand."
