SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Department of Transportation invites the public to its workshop that will focus on the second causeway project on South Padre Island.
At the workshop, TxDOT will share information on the project, which will be built between FM 106 and Park Road 100 on South Padre Island, approximately four miles north of the Queen Isabella Causeway.
TxDOT will also share information on the project history and the environmental studies currently underway.
As previously reported, the environmental process is expected to be cleared by 2026, with construction set to begin in 2029.
The workshop will also serve as an opportunity for the public to share their input on the project.
A virtual workshop will be available by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, on the TxDOT website.
A second in-person workshop will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, at the South Padre Island Convention Center, located at 7355 Padre Blvd.
Both in-person and virtual workshop attendees will have access to the same information and the option to leave comments.
All comments received on or before Friday, Nov. 21, will be included as part of the workshop.
