TxDOT: Nighttime I-2 closures planned for preventative maintenance

PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Department of Public Transportation is advising motorists of upcoming road closures due to paving operations.

According to a TxDOT news release, the closures will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., starting Sunday, November 2, on eastbound and westbound Interstate 2 between San Juan and Donna.

Road crews will be milling and paving, removing and replacing the top layer of the asphalt in planned phases starting in FM 2557 by Stewart Road, to FM 1423 by Val Verde Road.

TxDOT states this is preventative maintenance work, which includes new pavement markings and is expected to be completed by March 3, 2026.

TxDOT reminds drivers to respect the work zones and obey all posted traffic signs.
