HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Department of Transportation is working to notify people whose personal information was leaked after its crash records system was compromised.
According to TxDOT, unusual activity in its Crash Records Information System recorded nearly 300,000 crash reports across the state that were compromised on May 12.
Personal information in the crash records may contain first and last names, addresses, driver's license and license plate numbers, car insurance, and other information.
"TxDOT has taken proactive steps to inform the public by sending letters to notify the impacted individuals whose information was included in the crash reports," TxDOT released in a statement.
