TxDOT hosts meeting to ensure worker health during heat

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — As temperatures continue to increase across the Valley, the Texas Department of Transportation is taking extra measures to keep their crew members on the road hydrated and safe.

Every month TxDOT hosts a safety call meeting to ensure its workers are aware of what signs to look out for with heat-related illness.

"They look out for us, they'll probably put us something to do that's not so much hand work and more machine work," said Hector Barron III a maintenance technician for TxDOT. "All around they are out there to help us out."

They added that road work schedules are based on the weather and traffic.
