TxDOT announces temporary FM 676 closure in McAllen due to utility work

MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A portion of FM 676, or Mile 5 Road and Auburn Avenue, in McAllen will be closed Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

FM 676 will be closed to through traffic between Ware Road and Bentsen Road from 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, to 6 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22, for utility work.

McAllen Public Utility crews will be working on connections for a new sanitary sewer line in the area, according to the release.

TxDOT crews will set up a detour. Drivers traveling westbound on FM 676 may take Ware Road to Mile 3 (Buddy Owens) and head west to FM 494 (Shary Road).

Drivers are urged to plan accordingly.
