Two undocumented men arrested in Mission for $20K heist, assault

MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Mission police arrested two men following an alleged break-in and assault in a Mission home.

According to Art Flores, Public Information Officer for the Mission Police Department, the incident took place at approximately 10:16 p.m. on May 30.

Flores told ValleyCentral, two men forcefully entered a home, located at the 2400 block of East 6th Street, while inside they tied up two victims, a 32-year-old woman and her 14-year-old son.

Both victims were physically assaulted, and the woman suffered fractures on the right side of her face.

Authorities say the son managed to escape and get help, however, the suspects left the scene with approximately $20,000 in cash and some jewelry.

On June 6, authorities received a tip that both suspects were at a mobile home park in Pharr, located at the 900 block of East Sioux Road.

At approximately 12:41 p.m., both suspects were located and arrested with the assistance of state, federal and local law enforcement.

Police say both men are undocumented.

Authorities arrested another man, identified as 37-year-old Jonathan Alexander Rodriguez Goana, who is allegedly involved in the same case.

On Tuesday, Rodriguez Goana was charged with two counts of burglary of a habitat and one count of engaging in criminal activity.

Rodriguez Goana was given a total bond of $1,350,000.

The arraignment for the two suspects is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Mission Police Station.
