HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Texas State Technical College on Thursday hosted the NC3 National CTE (Career and Technical Education) Letter of Intent Signing Day event.
About 300 Rio Grande Valley high school seniors met in Harlingen to pursue a technical education this coming fall semester.
"We're celebrating our students in the Valley. We're celebrating their decision to come to TSTC and pursue a technical education," said Eladio Jaimez, Provost for TSTC Harlingen. "As this region grows and more businesses come, we need a skilled workforce, and at TSTC, that's our mission to provide that. This is a way to not just promote but also celebrate our students who are pursuing a technical education through TSTC.
When the seniors graduate from high school, their next step is to finalize any paperwork with admissions.
Once they enroll in coming to class, they will receive a $1,000 scholarship, according to Jaimez.
