The tropical low we have been watching for a few days has been lurking just off shore much of today and is expected to push inland today, but the path has shifted just enough that we are no longer in the sweet spot of rain. However, that does not mean the chance of rain is gone.

The low has moved close enough to the the shore that the National Hurricane Center has lowered the chances of development down to 20%. There is still enough moisture in the area, and the National Weather Prediction Center still has much of the Valley in an area of Slight Risk for excessive rainfall today.

We should still see scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening, some of which could produce some locally heavy rain totals. Consequently, the National Weather Service in Brownsville has continued the Flood Watch for Southern Hidalgo County and all of Cameron County until 6 p.m. rain chances will continue into the evening.

Overnight, we should see those rain chances decrease with just a lingering shower possible early Saturday. Mostly sunny skies are expected by Saturday afternoon with highs reaching the upper 90's for much of the Valley both Saturday and Sunday.
