Liz Graff, a law student in criminal justice at the University of Texas at Austin, has felt a shift in how they are treated on campus. Graff is one of a dozen transgender and nonbinary students the Tribune spoke to that describe college campuses as increasingly hostile environments.

Once considered a safe haven to explore identity, Texas campuses are invalidating and alienating trans people, students say.
