Traffic at Pharr bridge back to normal after 'demonstrations' on Mexico side

PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Traffic is flowing normally again at the Pharr commercial bridge after demonstrations this morning across the border.

According to Customs and Border Protection employee Rick Pauza, this morning protests on the Mexico side of the border over alleged farming prices caused congestion at the Pharr commercial bridge.

Wait times at the Pharr Anzalduas Bridge show that between 5 and 8 a.m. the average wait time was about 5 minutes. From 9 a.m. to noon wait times were between 15 to 17 minutes.

At the Pharr Hidalgo Bridge, wait times from midnight to 1 p.m. Friday have fluctuated with times at 25 minutes to 40. The shortest wait time reported at this bridge was 15 minutes Friday.

At the Pharr bridge, the highest wait time was reported at 8 a.m., clocking in at 42 minutes. Since then, traffic has dwindled.
