Trade representatives from 16 countries attended RioPlex’s summit in Houston

HOUSTON, Texas – RioPlex hosted its “Texas Port to the Stars Foreign Direct Investment Summit” at the Westin Galleria in Houston on April 9th and 10th, 2025.

It was the first time the region – the Rio Grande Valley and northern Tamaulipas – had promoted itself at a summit held outside its boundaries.

The closing remarks at the summit were delivered by Valerie G. Segovia, vice president of investor relations at the Texas Economic Development Corporation, and Joaquin Spamer, a board member of RioPlex.

Spamer said trade representatives from 16 countries, in addition to the U.S., were present. They were: Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, Pakistan, Singapore, Taiwan, Turkey, UAE, and Vietnam.
