Tow truck community hosts memorial for David Zapata

WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The local tow truck driving community is hosting a memorial on Thursday to commemorate the life of David Zapata.

Zapata, the owner of Steel Towing, was struck and killed Tuesday while securing a vehicle onto his tow truck on the shoulder lane in Harlingen.

Several towing companies are hosting a memorial on Thursday.

The memorial will begin at 6 p.m. outside the Texas Department of Public Safety Headquarters building, 2525 N. International Blvd. in Weslaco.
