EDCOUCH, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado landed in the Edcouch-Elsa area.
According to the NWS, the scale of the tornado was .25 miles in length, 75 yards in width and had winds from 70 to 75 miles per hour.
Valley Storm Team Chief Meterologist Bryan Hale says the tornado warning was issued yesterday near Edcouch and was a brief EF 0 tornado.
Video and photos submitted by a Serenity Funeral Chapel show strong winds and heavy rain that caused damage near the property.
The NWS details that a small tornado briefly touched down approximately 1.5 miles east of Edcouch. Damages caused by the tornado include lifting a sheet metal roof of a warehouse belonging to a crop dusting company.
According to the NWS, pieces of the room were blown northeast along the .25-mile path before landing in an open field on the north and south sides of SH-107.
Additionally, other damages caused by the tornado include a partial metal wall failure and a crop-dusting aircraft.
