This H-E-B has been serving Edinburg since 1998. Now it’s getting major renovations.

There’s some big plans underway at this H-E-B.

According to a news release, H-E-B has begun wall-to-wall remodeling and expansion of one of its Edinburg stores.

The H-E-B at 2700 W. Freddy Gonzalez Drive has been serving the Edinburg community since 1998, officials said, adding that the upgrades will “modernize and refresh the location.”

Now, the store will be expanded to nearly 110,000 square feet in addition to giving the location an expanded curbside area with dedicated parking, larger product assortment and a refreshed exterior.

But don’t worry if this is your local H-E-B. Officials said the store will remain operational during the renovations, with additional updates being provided as they develop.

“At H-E-B, we’re always looking for ways to enhance the shopping experience for our customers and we ask for patience during the renovation process,” the location’s Top Store Leader Reynaldo Garza said in the release.

According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation registration record, filed late October last year, the estimated cost for the project is $33,922,478.

While officials said the renovations are expected to complete in early 2027, the TDLR record lists a completion date of Sept. 18, 2026.

“This is a major project that will take some time, but when the work is done, this vibrant community will have a store they can be proud of for many years to come,” Garza said.
