BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Texas Southmost College held a ribbon-cutting launch on Tuesday of the much-anticipated Fitness Court in Brownsville.
TSC, along with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, and the National Fitness Campaign, have provided the Rio Grande Valley with access to a free fitness court/studio, allowing participants to move at their own pace.
"We're always thinking of the community and what else we can do, and how we can help our students," said Adela Garza, Chairwoman, TSC Board of Trustees. "We had seen this little piece of property, [President Rodriguez] and I, then Blue Cross and Blue Shield, came up with this partnership. I anticipate students or teams coming out and using it. They do spend a lot of time at the college, in between classes. It's one of our prized projects, and we're happy with it."
Garza added that the project was made possible with a match of funds from the board of trustees.
