BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham joined Brownsville officials Thursday to celebrate the completion of the first nine units of the BCC Village Townhomes.
The project is funded with a $4,450,000 disaster recovery grant from the Texas General Land Office.
"Every Texan deserves access to safe, resilient housingespecially those hit hardest by past disasters," said Commissioner Buckingham. "BCC Village Townhomes represent the kind of future-focused investment that strengthens communities and helps provide much-needed affordable rental housing for our working-class neighbors."
When completed, the development will be a 32-unit affordable rental project providing resilient rental housing with 100% of the units reserved for low-to moderate-income households, according to the agency's news release.
