Texas DPS vehicle chase ends in smuggling arrest

McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An Edinburg resident was arrested following a vehicle pursuit, the Texas Department of Pubic Safety said.

Elisaeo Hernandez is charged with smuggling of persons and evading arrest, according to a news release from Texas DPS.

On May 14, a vehicle pursuit ensued between DPS and Hernandez in McAllen, where he was running red lights, driving against traffic, and driving recklessly.

According to the release, a PIT maneuver ended the pursuit and Hernandez was arrested shortly after.

The release added that Hernandez was allegedly smuggling a woman from Colombia, who is now in U.S. Border Patrol custody.
