Texas Dove Season: Key safety tips and regulations to know

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Fred Rodriguez, host of the Texas Sportsman, discusses the upcoming dove season in Texas.

Rodriguez emphasizes safety and adherence to regulations. He advises hunters to ensure their shotguns have plugs to limit ammunition to three shells, stressing the importance of safety.

He notes that a hunting license is required for all hunters, including youths who can obtain a $7 youth hunting license.

Dove season starts at noon and ends at sunset, with specific limits: 15 doves per day, including a combination of morning dove and white-winged dove.

Licenses are available at local stores where permits are sold and online. Rodriguez also advises hunters to be mindful of weather conditions and to stay hydrated.
