EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Two teenagers were arrested in Edinburg after a call about some people jumping a fence revealed thefts on Easter Sunday.
At 3:42 a.m. Edinburg Police received a call about individuals, near Hill Country Drive and Pin Oak Street, jumping a fence and running toward Bicentennial Park.
A cop arrived to the park where they found two individuals who matched the description from the call. One of the individuals ran away and the other, identified as 18-year-old Daniel Reyna of Edinburg, was interviewed by police and arrested.
Reyna was found in possession of a controlled substance, Xanax. The same night, authorities received a call from a victim who had items stolen from their car. Authroitioes suspected Reyna as a suspect.
In the morning, at 7:23 a.m. another call came in from a victim who reported having items stolen from their vehicle at the 1000 block of Hill Country Drive. The victim stated that a handgun and $2,000 in cash were stolen from the car.

A second teenager was suspected of helping in the burglary. His name is 17-year-old Angel Lopez.
On Easter morning investigators set up surveillance outside of Lopez's house but were told that he and his mother were at church and were provided with a description of their car.
Authorities found the car and conducted a traffic stop. However, when they looked inside the car they did not find Lopez, but instead found his mother who said her son was at an apartment located at the 1800 block of W. Samano St. The woman gave authorities permission to search the apartment and her son was arrested shortly after.
The stolen handgun was found inside the apartment.
Both Reyna and Lopez face charges of burglary of a vehicle and theft of a firearm. Reyna will also face an additional charge for possession of a controlled substance.
