Teenagers charged with 15-year-old’s murder in Alton

The Alton Police Department said on Friday that two 15-year-old teens have been charged with murder for the shooting death of a teenager on Thursday.

In a Facebook post, police said officers received a call for a medical emergency at approximately 4:09 p.m. in the 1300 block of North Oak Street.

Upon arrival, police found a 15-year-old boy dead at the location.

Investigators found the teenager had an injury to his head.

“During the course of the investigation two male juveniles, both 15-years-old, were brought in for questioning,” the post stated. “The two juveniles were later arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence.”

An autopsy conducted Friday determined the wound to the teens head was a gunshot wound and the manner of death was homicide.

Police then charged the juveniles with murder.
