Teen accused of child sexual assault in Elsa arrested

ELSA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A teen was taken into custody after a mother filed a report that her daughter was sexually assaulted, the Elsa Police Department stated.

At approximately 9:45 p.m. on Sept. 12, the mother of a 13-year-old girl reported to the Elsa Police Department that her daughter had been sexually assaulted.

According to a news release from the Elsa Police Department, investigators identified the suspect as 18-year-old Alex Garza.

Authorities obtained warrants for his arrest. Garza was located at his relative's home in Edinburg and arrested.

Garza is charged with aggravated assault of a child and indecency of a child, sexual assault, according to the release.

He is booked at the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office and was issued a bond of $400,000.

This is an ongoing investigation.
