Talarico launches Senate campaign with Valley rallies

McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Texas State Representative James Talarico held two campaign rallies in the Valley to launch his U.S. Senate campaign.

The rallies were held in Brownsville and McAllen over the weekend. Talarico is currently a state Representative, whose district covers the Austin area.

Talarico is looking to unseat Senator John Cornyn in next year's mid-term elections.

Talarico stated he sees politics as a "top versus bottom," with elected officials standing up to billionaires rigging the political system in their favor.

"For too long, national Democrats have taken this community for granted, and so people here in the Valley were open to an alternative," Talarico explained. "In the last election, Republican politicians came here and made big promises about lowering costs and putting working families first, draining the swamp and they didn't do any of that. Instead, everything is more expensive, working families are falling further behind and the corruption in Washington is worse than it's ever been."

He added he plans to come back to the Rio Grande Valley as many times during the campaign.
